Hi,

I installed DNN on my PC and all is good.  I moved my files to the server under a directory DNN (which is a virtual folder)  I changed the connection string using that given by my host.  I then setup directory permissions giving read and write.

Now I try to install by typing my url on the browser www.hassanhussein.co.uk/DNN

This says that I have my CustomeErrors Mode in web.config set to RemoteOnly and i should change it to Off.  I tried doing that but I am still getting the same error.  This maybe database connection or any other setup issue but if i could see the actual errors I reckon I would be able to know what to do.  Can someone please help me progress beyond this barrier

Many thanks in advance

Hassan

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="Off"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

Check your web.config again and make sure you set this to ="Off"

Also, what database connection strings did you utilize in the web.config file?

I have CustomErrors set to Off definitely

The connectionstring I am using is from my website host.  I created a database there called it DotNetNuke but it gets autonamed to something like db6768 then it produces the connection string to connect to that database.  I deleted the sql 2005 express portion of the connectionstring tag then uncommented the sql 2000/2005 portion then used that connectionstring from the website host.  Is this the right way to go about it?

Cheers

Hassan

There are 2 conn strings you must use:

<!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005  -->

AND

<!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules  -->

rubgymw,

That is exactly what I have done.  I removed the sql 2005 express connectionstrings, then I set both sql server 2000/2005 and the sql server 2000/2005 for backward compatibility.  What I don't know is whather the values I used are what is required.  I used the connectionstring provided by my host provider for both connectionstrings.

If anyone knows how to see actual error on the browser, rather than the CustomErrors error (which is daft) that would be very useful

I appreciate anyhelp

Thanks

H
