I have one dnn installation, where I have 5 portals. I have one db for the dnn installation.

I would like to spilt the db into 5 db's. How can I restore the one db into 5 db's for each portal ?
Is this possible ?

I think what you are trying to do is go from one installation with 5 portals to 5 installations with one portal each?

To do this you'd need to export a template for each portal, do a new install, then build the new portal from that template file.

To export a template, use hosts-portals and use the Export Template box. Make sure you check the include content box. The is supposed to create a file that has all of the structure & content of that portal.

After you do a clean install, find the template files that were created during the export and copy them into the corresponding directory of your new installation. (I think each portal will have two files: portalname.template and portalname.template.resources. I think these will usually be in the portals\_default directory.)

Then use Wizard to "build the site" selecting that template.

The problem is you might not get all of your content. Some modules don't implement the methods needed to do the import and export, and some don't do it correctly. Some might bring content into the wrong portal. If you're attempting to import into a new, clean install, though, no harm done?
