Im not sure if this is in the works or not yet, but I would love to see the ability to nest (infinitly) categories in a repository. Also within that, be able to configure how each category and its sub cats list items. For Example, in a sub category called "email modules" have more sub categories like "POP3 modules" and "SMTP Modules" but the user can see ALL listings under "Email Modules" and its Child Cats, OR they can go even deeper into the categories and view "POP3" or what  not.

I think you'll be happy with the next release.

It doesn't have sub-categories per see, but it has something new called "Attributes". You can define any number of attributes per repository. Then for each attribute you can define any number of values.

Example: Define an attribute named "Color" with values of "Red", "White" and "Blue". Now when you upload a file to the repository, a set of checkboxes will be auto-generated for each attribute. You can check off any values that you want assigned to that file.  In the header.html template file there is a new [ATTRIBUTE:name] tag.  So for this example, you would add an [ATTRIBUTE:Color] tag to the header. When the repository is displayed, a drop down listbox will be displayed with the possible values for that attribute ( plus an ALL selection ). Selecting a value from the drop will 'filter' the repository. Attribute drop downs are cumulative, so you can have 2 or 3 Attributes and allow the users to filter based on combinations.

Steve,

This sounds great. I'd like to use this module in a similar way to a UDT to hold sporting fixtures/results and optionally match reports (as a file). Will it be possible to define "Attributes" without defining the valid values, i.e. have it set to freetext? If so, I'd then be able to have attributes for date, venue, opposition, goals for, goals against etc, initally some of the attributes would not be entered (as the match would not have been played), but on completion the score could be entered and perhaps the match report. I would not need the filtering facility. Will this be possible?

Many Thanks, John.

No, Attributes must be Values that are pre-defined. However, one of the next 'enhancements' will be 'User Defined Fields' which WILL enable you to do exactly what you want to do.
