I am rebuilding my old 2.1.2 site at a new host (not a cheap one) with 4.3.4. I am convinced that the old 2.1.2 site is faster. All things being as equal as possible between the .net versions, is it possible that 2.1.2 is indeed faster? Or should I be blaming the server load? I am hosting the new site at a premium host who is highly regarded here on the forums for their server tuning. Thanks.

Hands down, 2.1.2 is faster.  4.x would not run on my test machine without application strart up/shutdown every other minute making it dead slow.

Man, I feel like I am going backwards. I have been bragging for many months that we need to get the site over to the new version. I feel a red face coming.

I agree, there is no debating that 2.1.2 is faster.  The main reason being that it didn't have localization. Plus there are a lot of other features in the 4.x version.  Performance enhancements are on the way though.

Also, check out PageBlaster for a free way to get that boost back now.
