My Problem turned out to be that I didn't have any "Search Results" Module installed. As soon as I installed on on a new page it worked.

I to am being sent to the home page when entering a search.  I have the Search results module on a Tab named SearchResults.  In fact I deleted it put it back and reconfigured the settings but the search still takes me to the home page.   I also reindexed just in case. version 4.3.4

This is probably unrelated to Object Reference Not Set.....error. But I'm getting a different error:

A critical error has occurred.
ORDER BY items must appear in the select list if SELECT DISTINCT is specified. 0

4.3.4, Latest Forum version, and I do have a search results module.   Any ideas?
