I have installed DotNetNuke version 4.3.5.

When I am logged onto the web server via a remote desktop session, all access to the DotNetNuke site works fine.

When I am attempting to access the DotNetNuke site via my client PC I am prompted for authentication.  Irregardless of what I put in for credentials it does not work.

I have another installation of DotNetNuke on a development web server and everything works fine.

Any assistance or ideas would greatly be appreciated.

Have you checked the IIS properties to make sure Anonymous access is allowed?  If it is no, then a local admin would auth via NTLM and remote users would bomb...

Just check you have the aspnet_client folder in the root directory.

I have seen that happen and usually this fixes it.

By default, the way many dnn sites are created to go live during the IIS setup does not provide automatic adding of that folder which contains necessary files and brings up that exact error when trying to access anything that requirs any postbacks.

First of all, thank you for your response.

I do not have "Allow Anonymous" checked, however I changed my database authentication from using Windows Authentication to SQL Authentication and client connections now work.

My question is, what "user rights assignments " does the application pool account need in order for database authentication that uses Windows Authentication?  I have made sure that the account has "Log on as a Batch Job" and "Log on as a Service".  Are there other user rights assignments that are required in order for windows authentication to access the database?

Thanks again.

First of all, thanks for your response.

There is an aspent_client folder present.

I changed my database connection from using Windows Authentication to SQL Authentication and all client connections appear to work now.

I would prefer to use Windows Authentication as it is more secure.

Any ideas as to why Windows Authentication would only work when logged on locally to the server and client connections would prompt for authentication?

Thanks.
