Hi, I'm a newbie in using DNN - I would like to start creating my own skins, but after reading the skinning guide and cloning the existing skins like DNN-Blue in DNN 4.3.5, I found that the documentation refers to an older skin creation process - can somebody point me to a tutorial that refers to skinning as applied in DNN 4.3.5? TIA

Can you clarify what you mean by "the documentation refers to an older skin creation process"?  I use the same process I've been using all along.  There were a few changes between version 2.x and 3.x-4.x but not even too many major things there.

More details will help us help.

The documentation included in the Doc download is valid for 4.3.5, if that's what you mean.

Sorry, I meant to say "an older skin file set". The guide is referring to a skin set that is not included in the DNN source setup; it would be better to base it upon a skin that does come with the source, like DNN-Blue.

There's more. What I find is missing in the lengthy guide is an explanation of the XML file. Why for example are some tags included and others not? Which should I include and which not? That kind of beginner stuff.

I'm now working my way based on the DNN-Blue skin file set, but still am struggling on how to start modifying them. But then again I'm a newbie on working with skins.

I also would like to know if DNN 4.3.5 is completely configurable regarding skins, i.e. it is not dependant of the three columns anymore.

Furthermore, I am thinking of creating a DNN skin editor, but maybe there's something in the works?

Thanx for your time and help!

With all respect I don't agree, since (like I already mentioned in another post) the guide is based on a skin that doesn't come with the source package. It may work but I can't try it and base my new design on it.
