Hi,

My hosting account is with GoDaddy.
They installed DotNetNuke in "www.mysite.com/dotnetnuke" directory.
Then I started working on the pages for aroud six months.
Yesterday I Loged in as Host. Cliecked on Portal
In portal window I saw my site name as title and portal aliases as ‘www.mysite.com/dotnetnuke’
I edit it and changed that to ‘www.mysite.com/DNN’
When I clicked on ‘Update’ after my change, I got server error.
After that my site is down. I am getting page not found error.
I did not realised that I am not sppose to chage the directory in which dotnetnuke is installed
How can I resolve this problem. I dont have any backup sice I was changing directly in the portal.
Please kindly help me.

Thanks
Baskar

You can change the alias as long as you change the server settings behind it in this case the folder name. I'm not positive I understand exactly what you did here. If I do understand then you need to get directly into the database and change your alias back to the correct alias. The record you need to edit is in the PortalAlias table.

please check your dotnetnuke installation folder (where the web.config resicdes). if there is a folder named "dotnetnuke" with a default.aspx inside (child portal folder), rename this folder to "dnn" and the postal should be working again.

Thank you so much for your kind reply. Godaddy is installing DotNetNuke in a virtual directory where the users are not allowed to access it. There is no way we can backup that directory as well. This is the classic situation from which people should learn before using DNN installed by Godaddy. If we installed DNN ourself then we have access to all bells and whistles. Thanks again for your responses.

Thanks
