What is your reasoning for wanting to use apsx pages instead of creating modules?  You n create aspx pages but the framework is setup to make it easy to extend by building modules.

Please answer the question.  Can ASPX pages be hosted in DNN or not?

If yes, then
1) How can one add the DNN header and footer to the page (could a master page be used here?)?
2) Can the page be secured using the DNN infrastrucure?  Is there a Role to Page type capability so I can associate the new ASPX page to a particular role?

DNN is just and ASP.Net website so you can have aspx pages in teh same web site.  However DNN uses a its own framework to handle the look and feel of the page and also for the security.

I have to ask again why dont you just build a module, this is what DNN is designed to do.  I have not seen many cases where a module did not achie the desired result.
