Is there a way to do a bulk user registration without having to buy a 3rd-party module? I'm developing our company's intranet, and before we go live I'll need to register around 400 users. Does anyone have any experience with registering this many users?

I found one 3rd-party module that says it can do this (http://www.snowcovered.com/Snowcovered2/Default.aspx?tabid=242&PackageID=5109&search=bulk+registration+AND+(Tags%3a%22DotNetNuke+4%22+AND+%22Module%22)&pagenumber=0&sortby=&tagid= ) but I'd like to hear from anyone who has tried this.

That module works just fine.

Mind you, my import requirement turned out to be slightly more complicated than a dogs breakfest, so I needed a custom job.. but if you've just got a standard import that'll do the job.  You could write one yourself but just pay the $. Unless you work for pennies an hour it'll be cheaper to just buy it.

Thanks for the reply. When you say your import requirement was more complicated, can you elaborate? I *think* my import should be pretty straight-forward. My IT dept can get me a list of our users in csv format, so it shouldn't be too complicated, but you never know.

Well we needed to carry over the association between some of our users who are manufacturers/suppliers of the products in our storefront, into the Portal Store module. This required a live connection with our legacy MySQL DB, and a really large number of database mappings.

If you're just going to be dumping into all the standard DNN user fields, one of these off-the-shelf importers should do just fine.

At www.OnyakTech.com, there is an Outlook Add-in that will import all of your contacts in Outlook to DotNetNuke as registered users.  It's specific to Outlook so I'm not sure if this helps you, just wanted to throw that out there.  Note that only v2.0 of Outlook Contacts supports this feature. You can also download registered users to your contacts folder as well, a good way to sync contacts between multiple organizations.
