Hi, I created a custom module, tested it then made it in to a PA. I then uploaded the PA to another test site I have on my machine and it worked fine. Then I added it to a site that I have hosted and now get the following error:

Server Error in '/' Application.

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Con fig Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <custom Errors mode="Off"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "default Redirect" attribute of the application's <custom Errors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" default Redirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

I have changed the web confige file so that <customErrors mode = "Off" I then FTP'ed it to the host and it still has the same error message.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

If your entire site has crashed and you want to get it back, look for the assemblies (the .dll's) from the new module that got installed in the "/bin" folder and delete them. That shoudl get your site working again.

As far as what happened, did you try to install a module created with ASP.NET 2.0 in a site that is running ASP.NET 1.1?

I found out that datapacket.net does not allow the asp.net account to do anything to the web.config file

This leaves me to move on to a differnt host. I can take the web.config and get rid of the problem module and it works great.
