I've written a localization 'skin object' that can be used in your skins to generate an hyperlinked list of images corresponding to the languages that are enabled in your portal. When clicked they will reload the current page in the language you have selected.  It serves to replace the core dropdown language selector.

This should help your multi-language portal get spidered by the search engines a bit better -- that was my goal anyway.

There are currently only a handful of images created (I've used flags) but you may create more or use any image you like.  To make it work with the existing code the only stipulation is that the filename be xx-YY.gif to match the language-locale of that languages you have enabled (eg. en-US, fr-FR, es-ES, etc).

I've included a photoshop file with a few sample flags and some 'source material' from the CIA World Factbook to get you started.  The list is generated as an unordered list which can then be styled via css (sample included in at the top of ascx file below license and in the readme).

To install, unzip to the root of the DotNetNuke installation.  It will appear under '/controls/PointBoom/LanguageLinks/".  A bit more info is in the readme file.

Note that this has NOT been exhaustively tested but I'm offering it as a free skinobject under the Creative Commons License.

I've released a newer version of this.  Marginally better.

* It now only shows enabled languages for the portal.
* Also, the package I released had an improper directory name (so the images didn't show properly ... whoops, should have installed my own final release a little more completely).

and
* it installs properly like a regular module does (just upload the zipped package) into /desktopmodules

perhaps a few other small things. That's about it. Just adding to it as I think about it.
