When users try to access some files which were uploaded to our intranet (running DNN 4.3.4) using the documents module they get an error saying:- "There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found". This also happens when I log in as Admin and try to look at the file in File manager. I can open the original files on my PC OK, but after I upload them to our intranet via the documents module and click on the link I get the same error.

After reading the forums I tried changing the Web.config to this :- maxRequestLength="18432" requestLengthDiskThreshold="18432" thinking it was something to do with the size (although they uploaded OK in the first place) but this appears not to be the case as it didn't fix the problem.

I also thought it was just to do with PDFs but I have since found a Word doc that behaves the same way.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

I'm having the exact same problem and also using the same version (4.3.4). Any body have any suggestions? I can't seem to figure out what is different between the files that work and the files that don't. It appears to be random.

Its strange. I downloaded the latest update tp Adobe Reader 7.0.8 and now all the files .PDFs and .DOCs download OK. Go Figure!

There are a few little mysteries in DNN that crop up from time to time, like the first time I update the first module (doesn't seem to matter which one) each day I get the Error message about the "reference not being set to an instance of an object". After that its OK , until the next day.....
