Hi all, can anybody explain why DNN takes such a long time with a cold start? I'm experiencing up to almost 2 minutes waiting sometimes. Can this be optimized/tuned in one way or another? TIA

You can use something like SmarterPing to keep the site up.

Here are some suggestions from others:

Slow server, large DNN site? My site takes 9 seconds to start but that only happens after I do a reboot. Site is very busy and therefor the workerprocess never goes to sleep...

What you desribe is common to ASP.NET applications in general.  The goal is to get your application into memory and keep it there so it always responds quickly.  With a high traffic site this is not an issue.  With a lower traffic site I find host-tracker.com to be invaluable (and free too).

Another thing to help with site response is caching.  Check your host settings.  Moderate is the default I believe.  Another thing that helps a lot is compression.  The Snapsis PageBlaster once you tune its config file to your site works quite well.
