Hi

I'm can't make a comment in Gemini, so I'll make it here.

In regards to DNN-2504

"In Vs 2005 if using Precompiled Web Site (created using 'Publish Web Site' button) the App_GlobalResources folder doesn't exist any more (it's compiled to DLL) however some DNN 4.0.2 code  tries to refer the actual  App_GlobalResources folder"

See:

http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=2504

and here:

It would be fantasic if this bug got resolved in 4.3.6 please (it was a near miss in 4.3.5), it's my biggest issue right now and I hope you can help.

Many Thanks...

Alex

Alex,

the fix had been postponed due to compatibility issues (it has been identified to be a breaking change), therefore I don't expect it to be included in DNN x.3.6

Thanks Leupold for the lightening fast answer...!
Does this workaround stated below work or is it the case you just cannot pre-compile dotnetnuke 4.3.5 right now?
(that would be a serious bummer, but I do understand the nature of the issue so I understand).

Many Thanks

Alex

To workaround the problem it is required to rename DotNetNuke App_GlobalResources  folder (e.g. to Dnn_GlobalResources) and change the constant ApplicationResourceDirectory in  DNNLibrary\Components\Localization\Localization.vb to the same name, e.g.

Public Const ApplicationResourceDirectory As String = "~/Dnn_GlobalResources"
See issue report.

That was the originally designed solution, that has issues with modules: When a module is compiled, the constant is resolved and included as a value, and remain unchanged, even if used with another version of the core. In this case, a module will always look for folder App_GlobalResources instead of the renamed one. AFAIK further investigation is taken, but not finished, how to solve this.
