I am very experienced with php/mysql based content management systems and had never heard of dotnetnuke until recently.  I just love it now.  It has everything I need.

One problem, I run a linux server.  I and going to install mod_mono to run .NET apps on the linux platform, BUT, will dotnetnuke EASILY configure to run from a mysql database?

AFAIK nobody tried to run DNN with mono now, you may need to modify the core framework.

There is a commercial MySQL data provider available at snowcovered, but you have to check, which modules are included.

I found the MySQL database adaption on snowcovered.com, but I recently found a blog dated from back in march about someone working on a MySQL project thats FREE for the dotnetnuke project.  Is there an update on this?

I just don't want to have to migrate to a windows based server and database (too much $$$, less reliability) to run this wonderful CMS and I'm sure there are TENS OF THOUSANDS of others like me out there.  I wish someone from the project team could better adapt DNN to a linux environment right out of the box...it would surely increase their user base ten fold.  I have yet to find a php based CMS with all the features of this one.

.NET applications are great, but Linux is just a much better server (and cheaper too).
