Heya,
I just updated my DNN 4.0.3 installation to 4.3.5, but now I can't login with any of my user anymore . If i try to retrieve my pw it says 'There was an error retrieving your password. No password was sent', what can be the problem? The DB connection is working propper ('cause it is updating the number of tries) and I'm not lockedout (IsLockedOut = false for all users in the aspnet_membership table).
Greetz,
Leo

make you keep your encryption keys from previously used web.config!

I had exactly the same problem after upgrading from 4.3.4 to 4.3.5. However I made the mistake of not changing my encryption keys before I accessed the site for the first time after the upgrade. Then, when I realised I couldn't log in even as host I went back and copied the encryption keys from the old web.config. But it didn't fix anything.

However I then realised that I had changed the minimum password length from 7 to 6 in the old web.config and forgotten to fix it in the new one. So I changed it, stopped and restarted IIS (I'm running an intranet) and everything is OK now.

Sorry for this stupid question.

Can I do anything if I have lost my machinekey? I have a backup of my database, but the computer had a crash. So my website will show fine now but .... no way to login.

As the website was a long time running without problem I'm not shure about the password. Is there a way to recover the password?

If I try to resend my passwort I receive the errormessage " There was an error retrieving your password"

best regards for your assistant.

Dirk

Did you completely lose your original web.config? If not, and it is for the current version you were running I think the keys will work. But if you have completely lost it maybe this will help, Leupold posted it before in answer to a similar query.

Good luck
