I haven't developed any new modules in DNN for a long time.  Recently, I have been trying to get one done for 4.3, SQL 2005.  I even bought the "Professional DNN 4" book to help.  Here are a couple of observations...

1. The new DAL is insane.

2. The words "This enables you to change physical databases without having to recompile... bla bla bla" appears in the book aproximately 400 times.  I don't care, I use SQL 2005, I will use SQL 2005 and I will always use SQL.

Why are you putting me through this?  I have to write so much code to implement a stored procedure that I have lost my mind.  Does anyone have a gun I can borrow and a bullet I can buy?  Thanks

Shaun - Remember the old IBSW days?

I think I complained louder than anyone about the DAL. Shaun Walker and the Core delivered the DAL+

The DAL + allows you to use less code than you would if you coded the data access manually.
