I'm having a Problem with the SMTP-Server Settings.

My Host Settings are:

Host Email: MyName@MyDomain.com

SMTP Server: mail.MyDomain.com
SMTP Authentication: Basic
SMTP Username: MyName@MyDomain.com
SMTP Password: xxxxxx

If I do the SMTP-Server "Test", everything is ok, the test mail receive to the Host Emailaccount.
If I register a new User with an Emailaddress like OtherName@MyDomain.com (the mail domain is the same like portal domain)
the new user receive the registration mail.

BUT if I register a new user with an Emailaddress like NewName@OtherDomain.net (the mail domain is different the portal domain, like GMX etc.) the user receive nothing.
The same problem is when the new user register by self. No mail with Activasioncode receive the user.

Does anyone have an idea how I can solve this problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Lucas

Apparently your SMTP server is not allowing you to relay.  Even though you have authentication setup, the test may not be using it.

Most SMTP servers will deliver internal mail without authentication, so to check that you are authenticating properly you need to change the host e-mail address to one on a different domain, (I use hotmail or gmail), and then run your test.

Look in the SPAM folder (or BULK) and you will probably find the activation email there. I am having the same problem and I'm not sure why GMAIL thinks it's spam.

My SMPT server is not on any SPAM Blacklist and it is properly setup for reverse DNS etc... GMAIL receives other emails from my SMPT server with no problem. It's just the DNN Activation emails that get treated like SPAM.

Anyone have an answer?
