Hi, I'm trying to creat a child portal on a child portal. I have a domain that is setup as the parent portal. There are about 20 or so child portals running under it. I need to create a child portal within one of the 20 domains that are below the parent.

Each time I create it, it keep redirecting me to the home page of the main child portal that I'm trying to create the new child portal on.

To clear it up, I have a site that is the parent site we’ll call it www.mydomain.com. I created a child site for another domain www.theirdomain.com and have the alias setup with www.mydomain.com/theirdomain as well as www.theirdomain.com and theirdomain.com. Everything is working fine and has been running that way for quite some time.

Well now I need to have another domain under www.theirdomain.com that would look like this www.theirdomain.com/category_item if that makes any sense. I wanted to have it setup to work both as category_item.theirdomain.com as well.

The site is running DNN 3.1.1 on Windows 2003 with SQL 2000.

Thank you,

Sheldon Cohen

I think you need to be logged in as  www.mydomain.com/theirdomain and create  www.mydomain.com/theirdomain/category_item to get it working for a start - and perhaps add the alias.

I have setup sub subs but using the http://theirdomain.com/cateory_item

and come to think about it - can you have an underscore in the url?

Perhaps you might like to try a - instead.

Just some thoughts.

Hi, thanks. I tried to set it up again and no luck. I logged into the main site and created two child portals and neither seesm to be working.

The first one I clicked on child and changed the URL to www.theirdomain.com/category and it didn't work. So then I created a child portal on the main site www.mydomain.com/category and it works fine while viewing the www.mydomain.com site and I added the url alias www.theirdomain.com/category and each time I view it I get redirected to their home page www.theirdomain.com.

Are there some files that I need to copy over somewhere? The sites are hosted on one dedicted server and are all setup in their own directory.

Thanks again,

Sheldon
