The default rating system for an item in the repository comes up as 5 stars. Is there a way I can change that to a numerical rating system?

How about replacing the star images with numerical ones?

Thank you that helped greatly. My next question if any one can answer when I add a rating it displays an "Add your rating" box with radio buttons displaying 0-10. Is there a way I can change the 0-10 to something else?

There isnt a way that i know of to change the 1 - 10 rating scale. But I use the 5 star display also, but with 10 star-##.gif files, that rate in half scale increments.

For example, if the user rates a 5 on a scale of 1 through 10, a star-05.gif is shown that represents a 2 1/2 star rating. You can use any image you want, but there should be 10 of them to represent the scale you wish to use, whether it is a 1 - 10 or 1 - 5.

Hope that helps you.
