I did 2 upgrades - the first attempt was a complete disaster.

I backed up the site, and created a staging site with data identical to the site it was to replace. Did the DNN update on the staging site - and the upgrade reported back as being successful. Went to the site, and all of the content from the site was gone, except for the skins and page placeholders. Would have errors in every single box where images and text resided.

I blew away that site, went through the same procedure once again - and the upgrade reported as successful. This time, none of those errors. Just a couple of modules do not work, file download permissions and other permissions are non responsive, even under an administrator role.

But atleast the content is there.

Ideas on why permissions would change when all that was done was a simple update?
