I am looking for a tool that can take a given module and render it for output as a PDF. Like the print button, but generates a PDF for download.

Does any one know of such a thing?

We used pdflib with dnn 3.x.  But there seems to be a conflict between their dll and the dotnetnuke 4.x app.  I haven't had time to look into it.  But beside that, it's an effective tool.  Not cheap though...

HI, I also have access to PDFlib - older version - but would be interested in how you used it to generate the printable pages - was it a general solution or specific to a given module.

Thanks, Paul.

Hi Paul,

It was specific to a given module.  And from my experience, I don't think you'd be able to use pdflib to handle different shapes of content that'd be exported to only one pdf template.  Let's just say that pdflib is not that flexible.  But for specific and well defined content, pdflib does a great job.

And also, like I said on my previous posting, we have not been able to make pdflib work with dnn 4.x.  So that's a big limitation.  I haven't tried with newer versions of dnn4.x, so maybe that isn't an issue anymore.

Hmmm, I posted a reply yesterday but never got through... so anyway, here's my answer again.

We only use PDFlib for a specific module.  From my experience, I don't think PDFlib would be flexible enough to handle different shapes of content to be exported to one template.  But I'm definitly not a power user of this tool, so I could be wrong.

And like I said in my previous post, their are compatibility issues between PDFlib and DNN4.x.  I haven't played with it in the last 2 months, so maybe that was solved with the newer versions of dnn and pdflib.
