I'm just trying to learn the basics of DNN and on my first install (Version 3.3.5_install), at the top of my admin system, in the drop-down there are only 5 standard modules being displayed which are:

  1. Account login
  2. Banners
  3. Search input
  4. Search results
  5. User account

Now I'm almost positive that when I first installed the whole thing and the database, there was much more than that so my question is, what could possibly be wrong....and how can I fix it so it displays all the other modules?

PS Maybe I've altered a setting by accident or something?

My installation of DNN on 1and1.com hosting had similar issues.

After installing DNN, I had to use the Host, Modules to manually re-install the missing modules.

You might want to try that.

As far as I know, the recent install versions only have 5 modules by default. The other modules should be downloaded from the DNN site and either manually imported or put into the install folder. Do a search on the forum for the precise instructions.

I am in the same situation except that I also have Store and I beleive that the Install package includes 23 modules. I have followed the instructions to place all Zip files in the Install/Modules folder and then run /Install/Install.aspx?mode=InstallResources. I get:

Installing Resources
Install Resources Status Report
Installation Complete

but no new modules. The Zip files are still in the Modules folder. I went ahead and upgraded from 4.3.4 to 4.3.7 and tried is again with the same results.

I am wondering if the host installed the Small Business Template to start with and something is defaulting to that set of modules? Or is there a setting in the web.config to trigger a re-install?

I had also the same problem, but I then installed manually all modules without any problem (excepted for help modules, but the forum is explaining how to get rid of it).
