Hi

We're trying to install DNN on a shared hosting environment with a MS SQL 2000 db for which we have a sql login with db_ddl role.

As stated in the manual we replaced databaseOwner from dbo to our ms sql uid. Our installation failes when it's trying to exexcute someting in the aspnet _... yable. For some reasons the aspnet_... tables where created with dbo as Owner, all other DNN Tables were made with our ms sql uid, which we set in web.config databaseOwner.

Upon inspection of the files listed below we found hardcoded dbo values in stead of the objectQualifier databaseOwner

installCommon.sql
installRoles.sql
installProfile.sql
installRole.sql

Is there a reason for this?

Does anyone have experience installing dnn from a non-dbo user?

We also read in the installation manual that the db_securityadmin role is needed during installation, what is the exact purpose for this? And can this role be deleted after installation? Is this role needed during upgrades as well?

Thanks

aspnet* tables are part of microsoft membership provider, that is used by DotNetNuke unmodified.

OK, sounds plausible then ;-)

Is our installation then failing because we have only the db_ddladmin role and not db_securityadmin?

Thanks

Hi,

I tried installing DNN 4.3.5 on my dev server (ms sql 2000) and followed the steps as outlined in the installation manual (installing as a non dbo user):

db user: test (roles:db_datareader,db_datawriter,db_ddladmin,db_securityadmin)
databaseOwner = "test"

The installation of the 4 sql files listed aerlier in this thread needed for the membership & role management provider installed succesfully this time, but I still got errors in the upgrade scripts.

When I do the installation as a dbo user, everything works fine.

Are you sure DNN can be installed without the dbo role? Or am I missing out something here? Thanks!
