I just upgraded my company's intranet to 4.3.5. I've had this issue for a while and I was hoping it was fixed in 4.3.5 (it's not).

I have the Authentication module hooked up correctly, but when I select Synchronize Roles, my users experience a significant delay in their page loads. This, of course, only happens when they first log in; but it's slow enough to cause all sorts of evil stares in my direction as I walk through the halls. To avoid the lynch mob I disabled the Synchronize Roles option and I update permissions myself through the administrative interface.

So, has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to speed up the synchronization? Is there, perhaps, a Schedule module someone created where roles are synchronized overnight? Please help...

In the authentication admin screen, where it asks you for your root domain, enter it in the format dc=foo,dc=bar,dc=com, and try putting an ldap:// in front of the whole thing...

So your root domain should look like ldap://dc=foo,dc=bar,dc=com

It seemed to work for me.
