Working with some students.  Can they create separate DNN projects for each of their assigned subpages, and then let us combine them into a single website project after the fact?

Help please...

Yes I believe you could create a page for each student and allow them to edit it - then publish as a complete site- if I'm reading it right - it seems you've got a website where each person is responsible for content in a particular area.. is that what you mean?

There are a couple of ways I would approach this -

One way -

Create a sub portal for each person to work with, then export their portal with their name, and then add that portal (which may consist of one or two pages) into the main site - (using the wizard) keep the page names unique and use the *merge* function, not replace and it will show up.

Another way -

Set security roles on specific pages - each student would have their own security role - And when you create a page for a student, add them as being able to administer it.. it will allow them to edit the page, and add pages under their page, so they will get administration rights on all the modules and can add them to the page, but still be working on the primary site without influencing others.

It depends I suppose on what the project is and all I've done is given you some rough ideas to get you started.

Yes, Nina. Thanks for the input.  You understand exactly what's needed!  We have a design for a home page with a main menu that calls three primary subpages.  Each subpage is sort of a site within a site, and each of those subpages has a few subpages below it.

We've divided up responsibility for subpages among 12 students, and want them to be able to each work on their page or pages, and then, when everybody is finished, link them all together into a single multi-page, multi-level website.

I'm encouraged by your positive response and optimism.  Your "rough ideas" are terrific!  Thanks!

I'm glad it was helpful for you - I would got with the option of creating a master ROLE and call it *Students* and then .. create a security role attached to it - well 12 security roles, and add each user to their respective roles.

What you do is make the pages visible and editable only to each role if you want to keep each one hidden until you finish, but you as host could log in and oversee all their work in one go.

Also by creating the master role (role group called students) and then assigning each person to that group, you can send out email or notification to each of them as a group - or individually should you need to relay a single message.

I'm glad to see teachers and educators recognising the value of DNN .. but let's hope its a little while yet before the primary school kids get thie sort of education or we'll be feeling not so smart!!!
