Hi All,

I wonder if DNN could help me to build a MSN My Space like system. After having a over-view of DNN structure, I think it could but need to find more details. The functionalities below is the specific I drafted, please five me some feedbacks no mater that you want to point out the mistake or bring a better idea.

  • For every single user, I prepare to create separated "Child-Portal", just likes MSN My Space, everyone could have his/her own instance.
  • For functionality of every "Child-Portal", I could login as a host account and enable related modules. Then every "Child-Portal" will be limited and only has the modules I seted.

I still have one concern now: Could I use the "Parent-Portal" as a latest news? I mean, for example, I could display 10 latest blog articles in "Parent-Portal" and user who browse the "Parent-Portal" could click the one of the blog article links then redirect to the correct "Child-Portal".

Please give me some feedback to let me know if I am in the right way on it. Thank you and your are appreciated.

James

James,

This is quite simple to do and they way you are thinking about doing it is a good way to do it.  I have a couple of intranet portals that do this as a company only social network.  The biggest challenge you will have is creating the child portals.  If you get busy, you could get overloaded with portal creation requests.  If this is a concern for you, you should consider a module like Quick Portals or Portal Signup.
