When I try to install the DotNetNuke Starter Kit, I get:

"Installation stopped because the directory for the ProjectType value did not exist.  The project type is invalid for your installation of Visual Studio"

I've posted on this issue previously:

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/ForumsDotNetNuke/tabid/795/forumid/107/threadid/72903/postid/73705/scope/posts/Default.aspx

and I think the problem is not in the DNN StarterKit as I have a similar error when using Infragistics Startkits. The issue may be related to the Straterkit making some assumptions about the location of the "MyDocuments" folder and subfolders... [Mine was relocated some time ago to the D drive [space issues on C: ]...]

As the problem has been around for over a year, I would have hoped that there would be a definitive answer to this.

As the Professional DotNetNuke 4 book [chapter 12] bases all the module development on this starter kit, I'm stumped untiol I get an answer.

Can anyone help?

Duncan.

Well I'm stunned!

I've been chewing at this problem for a while. After posting the last, I had one more go....

I changed the Project, ProjectTemplates and ItemTemplates entries in the Visual Studio 2005>Tools>Options>Projects & Solutions tab from the [defualt] entries for the C drive [C:Documents and Settings/me/My Documents.... etc.. ] to where I'd put this on the D drive... and it all worked!

D.
