It would be nice if one of the types supported by the UDT is DNN Lists....

If I create a new column called country, it's silly NOT to have the type option "Lists", so when a new row is added, it can only be added from that particular list - without having to type it over and over again...

I'm sure I could come up with 10 similar examples using other DNN lists...

Cheers!

Rob,

I can promise you that lists will never be supported by UDT - because in my personal opinion Lists is one of the worst DNN "features" - not localizable, not extensible, not customizable per portal.

If you want to allow a selection from a dropdown values, just enter a semicolon separated list into "ExtendedSettings" of this field - easy to enter, easy to copy&paste.

Wow... that's the attitude!

So we should enter 150 countries in that way?  Do we *really* need country names localized?

The flip side, is that if you make the tool too difficult to use, no one will use it.

Good luck...

sorry, but we do our best to provide a module easy to handly and to extend by programmers, but as long as this is a volunteer project, we decide about features built in - most of the time according to popular demands, as accesptance is the single return we get. But sometimes we allow ourselves to have an oppurtunity, which features will benefit the users on a long term - and IMO lists in not part of it.

FYI: IMO, especially the countries list should get its own table with additional attributes like currency, flag, daylightSavingTime settings, ... and needs to be localizable.

Rob,

I assure you that we take every request serious. Usability is top one for us, especially for Sebastian. We take UDT serious. We decided to never support the dnn list, it was a long internal discussion nearly one year ago causing us a lot of headache.

If you really need this feature we would even help you writing a specialized custom data type. But take for sure that it will never get part of an official UDT release, even if you would provide us your code.
