To change max request size for a web service, we can set maxRequestLength
in file web.config or machine.config for example:

<configuration>
<system.web>
<httpRuntime maxRequestLength="8000"    (or whatever size you want)

Its default value is 4096 (4M).

what if the request size exceeds from the 8MB. If size exceeds from the Length mentioned in the web.config then how i can display a graceful message other than the error showed by the server. What is want to do is that "I want to show the error message if length exceeds from the mentioned in the web.config file."
