Hi, I'm trying to modify the 'dnnblue horisontal menu full width'-skin to fit my needs.

Standard content is jpeg pictures I place in a text/html module. I do the positioning of the pictures in portal.css.

Some of the pictures are positioned on top of the editor of the module, the place where I can insert links etc. I cant select the pics that are placed where the editor is, and therefore not choose ' insert a link'.

Can I assign a z-index to the editor and if, where do I do this ?

Mette - why are you doing that?  If you want picture on left, use the settings when inserting the picture into the page. That's really making it hard for you.

Is there any particular reason you are using this approach? Or are you wanting to align the images to the left or right of the text?

Hi thank you for a quick response. Why I am doing it like this, well I'm not sure what you mean with 'use the setting when inserting the picture', but as far as I know my alternative is to use a table for positioning/organising.

Do you mean, assigning a center=left attribute to the picture ?

I realize that the way I've been using css is not exactly elegant (to put it mild ss) but I was eager to make something work in this new framework.

I want to align the pictures to the text or vice versa, but also to be in control of the exact position of the pictures which will vary from page to page (exept the first from right).

I wonder if there is something very obvious I'm missing here.

Nina, do you refer to the possibility of choosing alignment when inserting a picture into the text/html module ? I cant see how this could help if I have more than four (five with a picture in center) pictures?

Isnt it possible to get control of all parts of the screen, including the parts that in design/update mode is covered by dnn-tools for updating/designing ? Im using one of the skins thats comes with standard installation.

Ok let me get this right - It sounds to me, like you are talking about the images in the design?

Skinning and Design are totally separate in a sense to the adding of content.  So you are asking about two things, but perhaps thinking you can do them all in one.

If you want to manage how the design is - you do that using a html editor or notepad -I use Dreamweaver. That is because the skin represents all the pages of the site, so you have to think - what do you want for the pages, and what do you want specifically for a single page.

A good example I can think of is having a front page that is different to the sub pages.  You want to chane this page, but keep the design the same in the rest of the site. To do this - you have two options, you can make a *home page* skin and a *sub page* skin. Each one is slightly different, but they are still created with your html editor.

Now, sometimes people don't want to make the skin or don't know how so they use images - I think if you wanted to use 4 or 5 across, you would need to put them all in a table, but sometimes if I have that situation, I will actually merge them together so they are one image. (that's the easiest way I can think of)

Or, if you really want to put each image in it's own box/image module or text html, you would be required to use that Home Page skin idea, and make 4 panes across - and then put the content into each of of those panes.  Or you can simply add them to the skin and save the file and they will appear as part fo the skin.

I just want to tell you that sometimes you have to think of squares and rectangles when designing a DotNetNuke site.

So there are a couple of choices I have given ,based on your information and I hope I have clarified it a little bit so you don't get confused as to what is done via the skin and what is done via the website when logged in as administrator.
