When I upload a PDF document to the Repository the small file type icon does not change to a "PDF" document icon. If I upload a Word document it changes to a "Word" file type icon.

Is there a way to make the .pdf file type extension display a correct file type icon?

There currently isn't a pdf icon to display. If you look in the images/icons directory of your Repository install you'll see the available png files. You can make your own pdf.png and that'll be displayed for your pdf files.

Back a couple of months ago "Rask" offered a zip file of repository file type icons.  Check out this post:
