Hummmm . . . I am not sure whether it is apropriate to ask this here . . . but here goes my question . . .

Since I need to look elsewhere for a DNN forum module that allows people to post messages without signing in, I am asking for leads to other DNN forum module suppliers, free and/or fee'd. Yes, if there isn't a good free one out there, I am considering the ones for sale too.

I know about the "Yet Another Forum" forum module. I have spent the entire afternoon trying to install it. It seems to have the most convoluted installation instructions I've ever encountered (and I have much experience working with open-source stuff). I will continue my installation attempt, but I am ready to look at other choices.

I briefly googled for DNN forum modules but none have turned up thus far (although there are many other DNN modules out there.)

Any ideas/leads???  Much appreciated!

JC

What about using a blog module instead of the forum and just permission it such that anybody can post a blog and comment on a blog. You can also set up the child blogs like categories. That way you don't have to install anything and anybody can post to your site without signing in.

I have not looked at the wiki module yet but that may allow you to achieve what you are trying to do.

What is the link to your site and what are you trying to do and why do you want this? More infor about what you're doing and you'll get more suggestions to solve your problem.

Remember that a forum is very very similar to a blog or an article module with comments enabled.

I am a huge fan of Presstopia forum  and ActiveForums, both are killer mods, and have the source code available.

I agree about the YAF installation... I am still dizzy from that one.

Good Luck!

Thanks so much everyone, for your contributive insights.

Scott and y01nk, I will check out ActiveForum and Presstopia today.

wildfiction, your suggestions are great alternatives. I will have to discuss them with my client (actually the client's client) . . . you know, sometimes people are inclined to "married" to a idea/concept . . . I shall see . . .

Guys, I have been finding that another very popular, powerful, open-source message board is PHPBB. Only that it's built with a different technology (actually I am more of a WAMP person). It is also a possibility that I may run it outside of the DNN framework and simply have link to it. That, I shall see . . . about my client . . .

Thanks again, guys!
JC
