I've been reading the Wrox Professional DotNetNuke 4 book and I'm on to skinning. It claims that one of the powerful features is that you can develop Skins in ASP.NET or in just HTML, so you don't have to relearn a tool (or even develop on a Mac). However, the book didn't go into any details as to how you develop a skin in just HTML.

Are there any good tutorials that describe this process?

I found one tutorial at DotNetNukeRocks.com that describes how to do this, but it deals with just one HTML file and doesn't explain how to bundle a few together (like a CSS and a couple JPGs).  It also doesn't describe how to define/create different content panes. How does one do this in just HTML?

I used the tutorial on www.thinkofdesign.com (see my flaky results at http://www.wasatchdev.com/msi/Skins/MSICommunity/tabid/61/Default.aspx) but it seemed odd, since it's a lot of manual ASP.NET development, instead of what I was expecting, just straight HTML with some TOKENS thrown in.

I'll read the documents you mentioned and get back with questions :)
