some of the errors

00:00:04.093 - Executing InstallRoles.sql

Error! (seeC:\Websites\Troop24\Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider\02.02.00.log for more information)

00:00:05.202 - Upgrading to Version: 2.2.2 Error! (seeC:\Websites\Troop24\Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider\02.02.02.log for more information)

00:00:28.216 - Upgrading to Version: 3.0.13 Error! (seeC:\Websites\Troop24\Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider\03.00.13.log for more information)

... not too many more

most of the errors are about: can't find sprocs & insert nulls - assuming the first error caused at lease some of the subsequent errors

Any ideas how to even start troubleshooting ?

do upgrade in steps - first to DNN 3.0.13, subsequently to 3.1.1 and 3.3.6. Afterwards switch over to 4.3.6 if desired.

In case of upgrading in small steps - I only see code for the lates 3.x version and 4.x version in download - so I tried doing the 3.x install and then changing the site to .net 2 and running the 4.x install. It upgrades by iterating versions from lowest to highest anyway - right?

what about the older custom modules, what is involved in upgrading them - this will be the biggest problem

It was suggested it may be easier to re-create the site - in that case how can I migrate data such as users, user portals, user settings... - is there a data dictionary or some kind of 'blueprint' of the dnn database?

custom modules should be upgraded seperately, which means that you have to build them at least against dnn 3.0.13 in order for them to work in dnn 3 or 4 Depending on the module that might be easy or a lot of work

Because dnn 2.1.2 does not encrypt passwords, its not that hard to get all users from the db, and import them in dnn 3 or 4. There are some modules available on snowcovered that will do exactly that for you. I've had good success with DNNWorks Bulkreg module (available here: http://www.snowcovered.com/Snowcovered2/Default.aspx?tabid=242&PackageID=5639)

cheers,

Erik
