my apologies first of all to the vets.... i have spent 20 minutes searching the site and web for my answer already.  I presume an answer does exist, i just couldn't find it.

I would like to know how to direct to new portals, and have the "new" domain name for the new portal show in the address bar as the root directory.

my domain names are registered with webhost4life.  my hosting is also webhost4life.

ex.
www.domain1.com is the host portal. 
new portal for www.domain2.com, with http alias as www.domain2.com
I tried to setup a direction for the domain name to either a physical directory or to another DN.
Since the different portal don't use "physical directories," and i can't find an index or default page in my new portal, I don't know where to redirect to.

seems like a fairly obvious solution, but i just can't find the right settings....

When you create a new portal add it as a child first (www.domain1.com/domain2), this will make certain you can access it. Then add the www.domain2.com alias. Now point you domain 2 at the same location as domain1 and dnn will do the rest.
