Hi Jon,

your right, that my 'fix' wasn't ideal. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Hi Jon,

I have tried your fix, unfortunately, the childmenu stays visible as before while page reloads. Try http://dnn.atbit2.de, first entry in menu bar, click to the first item in the drop down menu, while the childmenu of the item to be clicked is visible. The menu layer just jumps a bit to the left, but will not disappear.

I am not sure I understand you navigation structure.  Are you purposfully making items that contain child items able to navigate?  This does not seem to be a standard way to provide navigation...

Like I mentioned earlier, there are lots of users that use the click of an item with children to open the submenu.  Hiding the menus in these cases would be a wrong behavior to them.

Hi Jon,

your are right, in case the item in question will not be able to navigate, this problem will not appear. On the other hand, I did the menu structure with DNN's assistance relatively straight forward - expecting to find all in place (what in fact was the result, excepting the child menu effects). Also at dotnetnuke.com there are menu items having childs _and_ a page behind (the click for 'show me the menu' in your reading triggers a page load in fact also).

So, if obviously a lot of people are using menus 'my way', why do you think that this would be an unusual way to provide navigation ? What's your suggestion with DNN, to create menu items that will not trigger a page load ? The best way would be to let the site creator decide ...

Yours, dvv

post scriptum to my last post: I didn't found a way in DNN to create a menu item for holding a child menu, that itself will not lead to a page. I'm able to create a page and to decide what's the parent page. That's it. Maybe, there's a trick to do that ...
