Hi there,

I have DNN version 04.03.04 installed for my website but I recently got this error when setting a new portal: Skin is currently unavailable. I am not able to view any skinning properties at the moment. I cant find any solution to the problem as well.

I am not a programmer so I dont know how I would fix that. I have also upgraded to the latest version of DNN - 4.03.06. Still the skin error comes up.

Please let me know as I have clients who have bought a skin and want to play with skinning.

ThanX

Check you have uploaded the skin correctly- Often when we purchase things we don't look inside the zip file and find there are different files in there.

You need to make sure when you upload skins they are not zips within zips.. they will upload but that's about it.  I have a video under the videos link that explains some of the basics, including the common errors.

You don't need to be a progammer to fix this common problem, and I'm pretty confident that it won't take too long to fix.

Thank you ver much Nina for replying.

Well, I know I should try to upload the skin again properly. But I want to know how I can do that now as I am getting the Skins is currently unavailble error message as soon as I click on Admin >> Skins or Host >> Skins. I dont know how else I can correct any problem.

Please let me know how I can solve this problem as I cant get into the skins page at all.

THanks Nina. :)

aah ok - that's different - do you have ftp access? That's generally the only way to fix up broken skins - what I do is get the default skins that I know work, I then rename them to the problem skin file I uploaded and then I overwrite them - even if they look bad, it just means that I can get access to the skin file again.

It seems to me, that perhaps the skin might have a problem itself - sorry for not reading this closer.
