Could we please have a little update as to where things stand at the moment, the latest news were dating from June/July ?

The latest update is over on my blog.

but other than that update I've been moving and trying to get settled into the new place along with a few other projects. I've got the Wiki Module to compile against DNN 3, but am having some issues with third party DLLs, which leads me to believe we don't want to use the existing wiki module, but I'm still holding out hope I can make it work properly.

If you don't want to reuse the existing module, I assume that means writing one from scratch ?
Am I right into thinking then that you have 2 choices, one if, take an available wiki (flexwiki ?) and port it to a DNN module, or start a completely native DNN wiki module ?
I lack the knowledge of the scale of a wiki application in order to think which way will be quicker and easier. Maybe I should have a look at flexwiki code, and see if I get scared or not.

That is good news that you managed to deal with all the DNN 2 -> 3 object model changes (I assume that was the challenge when getting it to compile). I am not in your shoes, but it seems to me it would be a shame to drop the original module and loose all the functionality Jonathan built in. I remember being impressed with Jonathan's design - not only the wealth of functions (view differences between versions, plugins, 'doors' that could get you into the wiki from any point on the site etc) but also the code. The whole UI seemed to be generated in the code-behind (however elegant that was though, it made it hard for me as a junior programmer to get rid of the cross-eyed sheep logo when I was considering using the module on a 'serious' company intranet site!).

Is the third party DLL you mention the 'colorizer library'? I remember having to add sections to the web.config for something like that.

Have you considered contacting Jonathan and asking for his input on this? He seems to be pretty active in the .NET community judging from his blog (http://blog.dotnetwiki.org/)

Last question: did you keep the code in C# ?

My last 2 cents for now:

For me, this is the most exciting DNN project of the lot. Someone recently started a conversation on the ASP.NET forums about the possibility of using a Wiki to hold all the knowledge, tips and techniques about DotNetNuke (http://forums.asp.net/1059145/ShowPost.aspx). Imagine if the current support system - the forums, with getting on for 30,000 threads - were supplemented with a community generated Wiki - that could transform people's experience of using DotNetNuke. As everyone probably knows, the area where DotNetNuke is lacking most is documentation, and although almost every question could probably be answered by searching through the forums, or the web in general, it can be frustrating, and unfriendly to the non-technical user.

Sure, there are ways a DNN wiki could be created now, but the one existing Wiki module does not seem to me to be powerful enough and Flexwiki etc are not integrated with DNN. Wouldn't it be great if, just like the new Forums module got built into the DNN site to provide 'offical' news about DNN development, the new Wiki module became the basis of an 'official' community generated and maintained DotNetNuke knowledgebase?

Sorry, this post probably does not belong here, I just wanted you to know that your progress is being watched keenly. Go Chris and Steve!
