i've created a virtual directory in IIS which points to the installation directory

I was using the source package, I noticed that the directory structure is different in this package than the others so I pointed IIS to the 'website' directory instead to see it that prompted anything, however I now get a 'you are not authorised to view this page' error instead

website is the correct directory for the virtual directory, but please make sure, you have set the correct permissions in windows file manager for the AspNet/Network account

Particularly the IIS set-up and the fact that you have to compile the Source version to get it to work. To just run DotNetNuke use these directions:

I know this is off the main thread but what your opinion of diving into 3.0 so early?
is it a risk?

I don't think it is a very big risk as .NET 3 is just .NET 2 with WPF, WCF, and WWF so the underlying ASP,C#, VB.NET etc.. is still .NET 2.

Unless of course it is a .NET 2 with fixes applied.
