Is it possible to have a menu item, that points to an external URL open a new browser window when it is clicked.

It would be nice to have this as an option when configuring the menu to point to an external url, New Window Y/N ?

The two options that I see are pointing to a local HTML page with a window.open javascript command - but this takes the user away from the current page and is not acceptable.

The second is to use a standard HTML link outside of the menu system.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Will this syntax work in the page settings control ?

I tried a couple of variations and I am having trouble with the escape syntax for the url string.

There is a conflict with how the url setting is embedded in the javascript at run time as part of the solpartmenu.

If this works in the menu settings can you provide an example of how to enter it ?

Thanks for the reply.

Hi - Does anyone know the syntax for adding a popup window to the existing menu via the page admin function ?

I can add a page and set it to show an external URL, however that takes the user away from the site.

Any suggestions for having the external url show in a new window when accessed from the main menu ?

Thanks for any input!
