After upgrading from 4.0.3 to 4.3.6 I notice that all Events display on the calendar 1 day later than they are.  This goes for old and new events as well.

Any tips for a confused camper?

I have not done an upgrade but here is what I have on DNN 3.3.6 and Events 3.02 (nearly a year old...but the latest) and it really needs to be fixed.

I created a recurring event for the 1st Wed of each month at 7:30PM. The first one is on 1/3/2007. Here are my results.

Calendar renders the event on Thur (1/4), but at the list it shows the incorrect Time Zone and the time is 12:29PM.

MouseOver shows the event on Thur (1/4) and at 12:29PM also

Click of event and the detail page shows Fri (1/5) at 12:29PM and the Time Zone is wrong as well. It does at least say First Wed of every month.

I have another recurring event that is based on every 20 days on a different Events module instance and it seems to work.

The AVCal, which I assume is the source for the "new" events module has been around for ages. I did a lot of testing and feedback for Alan since early DNN 2. What I cannot figure out is why we cannot get a simple DNN CORE Calendar (or Events or whatever it needs to be called) module that just works...with recurring events. This is not a slam on any particular individual, but what can be done to make this work. For people trying to build a business around DNN, which I have been trying to do since late 2002, the CORE modules need to work...especially something as common as a Calendar module. Sure I can handle some issues as a web developer on my personal sites, but how can I turn DNN on to a large market and then say...Don't use the Events Module..or the Gallery Module...or whatever, since they don't really work. I realize that third party modules can be used to fill gaps in functionality and I use a good number of them from the top developers. But I should not have to use a third party module to do something that is contained within a CORE module but does not even meet the basic level of advertised functionality.

Sorry for the RANT, but we really need something that works. I have shown my support as a Gold Benefactor, and sure I would be willing to maybe pay out a little to get some things done, but what I don't like is to see all these advanced functions being added to a CORE module, when the existing, necessary functions don't work correctly.

Sorry it's taken sooooo long to get fixes out for these issues.  I am back in the saddle and working fast and furious.  One of the things that created a lot of issues was how we implemented TimeZones...it through off Recurring Events (was working on AVCalendar)...we tried to make improvements, but alias, testing was not complete and we dropped the ball.  I am working now on ripping out a lot of the TimeZone code.  We will now assume that the Module Instance is a "Resource Type" Calendar (Per User Calendars to come in a future release) and uses the default Site TimeZone...so, when Exported, we will swtich to TZ GMT, but will not do any TimeZone manipulation otherwise.

Here's some of the fixes I've already made:

A recap of stuff I've just finished/still testing:

1) Rebuilt base Month View Page, including took off the Event List (below the
Calendar).  You can still get to edit by selecting the event in the calendar
which takes you to the Detail Page, where editing/deleting can be accessed;
Also implemented a new Calendar control that subclasses the MS Calendar, but
allows better stylesheet control over the look and feel;  Also fixed the popup
html notes on an event.  Performance is 50% improved on the page load.  I am
looking at further performance improvements.

2) Event Notification:  Finally works 100% of time and is more intuitive!  There
was a security issue with sending HTML email out.  This will now support custom,
templated email.

3) PayPal Enrollment: implemented patches recommended by others; have yet to
fully test paid enrollment.

4) Improved Week View, including more control over look and feel and at least 50% performance improvement.

ETA on the new release: Feb '07.  Again, sorry for the lag on the module.

Cheers,
   Alan

I had this problem myself and found that the user I was logged into was showing in their profile under timezone to be in Dublin.  I changed it back to the correct timezone for that user and everying went back to normal again.

It's somewhat confusing for Novice DNN admins and users...If the Admin forgets to set the Site TZ, then the user is defaulted to the TZ, it can create all sorts of confusion.  One way we could handle this is to set a "Calendar Instance" TZ that would be used.  Most admins will check the Module Instance Settings and will set the TZ...this would leave user's viewing the default for the Event Calendar Instance...we are then thinking of including a button/link/popup for users that want the Event Translated to a different TZ.  This should be somewhat more usable. Your thoughts?
