Hi,

I'm a bit confused... I've created some new modules in VS2005/ASP.Net 2.0 [4.3.5] and followed the excellent advice in the DotNetNuke 4 book

Everything works fine, but I can't see where the resulting DLL is and can't quite get my head round where I would declare that these modules all should share the same DLL. [connected functionality].

Anyone care to provide light?

regards,
Duncan.

The code libraries should be copied to the bin folder of your application root. Check Michael Washington's blog in this site for more info about the process of packaging your module for deployment.

Tanks for that - it'sstarting to shed some light!

I took a look at the Michael Washington blog and it helped a lot. Followed the instructions and produced a Directory called Precompiled" which contained all the DLLs.

but

All my DLLs are named "App_Web_MyFile.ascx.5871eb8f.dll" etc.... or, with the 'Use fixed naming and single page assemblies' checkbox unchecked, "App_Web_5871eb8f.dll"

I thought that they would relate to the namespaces or you could define what the specific target was for a given group of files, so that you'd end up, if you wish, with just one DLL for a number of related files, like in the old days! :)

Using WAP and a nant script you'll end up with the same result as in the DNN3/.net 1.1 days
