I redeveloped by custom module from vs2003 to vs2005 on the DNN 4 platform. It runs perfect locally.

However building the project (precompile) delivers the required DLL's and incorporating them into the .dnn manifest still gives errors when installing in a portal.

The message is that it is missing the .ascx.vb files.

Is there a clear overview of steps to take to build and package a dnn4 module with dataprovider using vb2005

I had to search, but follow the instructions posted on this page exactly and your module should be able to be deployed. Your error is specifically related to the fact that you tried to use your original development .ascx files when what you need to do is use the .ascx files from the directory you did your "Publish Web Site" to. (ie if you published to c:\DNN_precomp, look in the folder c:\DNN_precomp\DesktopModules\<Your module name>\*.ascx and use these ascx files)
