Is there a way to get the links module to display links from a sql query

or

is there a way to get SQL to export a list of links to XML

then I can use an XSD to display hyperlinks from the XML

You could tinker with SQL Server 2005's forXML output (it basically outputs a XML string as the return value of your query) to create an XML representation of your data.  A gridview/datalist/formview could be bound directly to the XML. Here is a link.

This would have to be in a custom module now though.

You could do that with our ActiveHTML module.

MJ,

If I install you module to a portal and configure it - then export it to a template. Finally I create a portal based on that template - will your module retain its settings (still work)

I've found alot of modules have issues when exported to portal templates - and its very hard to test this before buying the module  (no eval version)

The free module SQLGridSelectedView now has a in-line Function that will create Links from database columns (MAKELINK).  Check  out V4.0 of SQLGridSelectedView at www.tressleworks.ca   Paul.
