Ok yeah... the container info is being passed in the querystring.  Strange.

I don't even have containers set on the shopping cart... so I don't see how to turn this off.  But the containers alone are taking up 123 characters!

OK, well that at least is helping me to work out what may be causing the long URL.  I suspect that previous posts which recommend moving the root folder location up the tree may in fact not apply in this situation.  I'd be more inclined to be ensuring that skin folder names are kept as short as possible in future and in my case modified (if possible) to reduce the occurrance of this issue.

Does anyone know the best way to change an existing skin/container folder name without breaking everything?

I''m thinking this post doesn't really belong in this section of the forum anymore, but I don't know how to move it.

Thanks

I think it does belong here.. because even though it's ultimately a .NET issue, it could easily be avoided by NOT passing this information in the querystring in the first place.  I'm going to have to look at the source code and figure this out.

Hello Atavarin,

in witch module are you going to look? In the core module or the one from Allan (Emerald Solutions)?

(Do they contain the same code?)

I'll give it a try in the coming days too. Please keep me informed.

Success!

I'm looking at Allan's modified store code.  When I tested access to the checkout page via the link MINUS the container stuff, it works fine for me.  Maybe if you have them set to a specific container then this might be an issue for you, I don't know.

I found where in the code it generates this URL, and I made the change to remove it, but having issues compiling it atm...

CustomerCart.ascx.cs, lines 111 and 116, remove the call to getSkinAndContainer() in the parameter list

EDIT: I tried this in the core store module, and it doesn't have this behavior (container info on querystring).
