OK Guys,

I've actually tried to get this fixed off and on over the last few months.  It's been a website project that hasn't HAD to have email capabilities until now.  So, I'm to the point where I have to get it going.  I've read all the post across the web pertaining to the "failure to send mail." error til I'm blue in the face.

My email is setup through GoDaddy.  I'm using there "smtpout.secureserver.net" mail server along with with email settings which work anywhere else I want to use the account.  So my email does work and is used.  Here is what I'm showing in the Log Viewer:

Message: System.Net.Mail.SmtpException: Failure sending mail. ---> System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.DoConnect(EndPoint endPointSnapshot, SocketAddress socketAddress) at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.InternalConnect(EndPoint remoteEP) at System.Net.ServicePoint.ConnectSocketInternal(Boolean connectFailure, Socket s4, Socket s6, Socket& socket, IPAddress& address, ConnectSocketState state, IAsyncResult asyncResult, Int32 timeout, Exception& exception) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at System.Net.ServicePoint.GetConnection(PooledStream PooledStream, Object owner, Boolean async, IPAddress& address, Socket& abortSocket, Socket& abortSocket6, Int32 timeout) at System.Net.PooledStream.Activate(Object owningObject, Boolean async, Int32 timeout, GeneralAsyncDelegate asyncCallback) at System.Net.PooledStream.Activate(Object owningObject, GeneralAsyncDelegate asyncCallback) at System.Net.ConnectionPool.GetConnection(Object owningObject, GeneralAsyncDelegate asyncCallback, Int32 creationTimeout) at System.Net.Mail.SmtpConnection.GetConnection(String host, Int32 port) at System.Net.Mail.SmtpTransport.GetConnection(String host, Int32 port) at System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient.GetConnection() at System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient.Send(MailMessage message) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient.Send(MailMessage message) at DotNetNuke.Services.Mail.Mail.SendMail(String MailFrom, String MailTo, String Cc, String Bcc, MailPriority Priority, String Subject, MailFormat BodyFormat, Encoding BodyEncoding, String Body, String Attachment, String SMTPServer, String SMTPAuthentication, String SMTPUsername, String SMTPPassword)

Are you getting this when hitting the 'Test' link under 'host settings'?

Check your authentication method, make sure you are not anonymous - That would only work for an open relay

I am actually getting the same error as above.  I am hosted by godaddy.com and have my settings as follows

smtpout.secureserver.net

Basic radio button selected

username and pass

Like the above post, I have my outlook working fine with the email.  This error occurs when I use the "Test" link.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

I am having the same exact problems. Is there a solution for this problem?

Please note when using shared hosting in a Godaddy hosting server you have to set the SMTP server to relay-hosting.secureserver.net (which is the server used for their shared hosting accounts to relay email at this time).  No authentication is required for the server as this is only access from shared hosting accounts, the only thing that needs to be filled in is the SMTP server name.
