Hello,

I've got a list of features I'd like to see that I feel are important:

1.  Comment security feature - this feature will display a randomly generated alpha-numeric gif.  When posting a comment, the poster will be asked to enter the security code to authenticate which will prevent autobot posts - which if you have a successful blog can cause major pain.

2.  Skinning of some sort - choose from x,y,z default skins, then allow for maybe up to three personalized text/html boxes which might be strategically placed and integrate with their personal image database - allowing each user to choose their own skin

3.  Friendly names for blogs - (not sure how to accomplish this other than to create an alternate dbtable that is cross referenced with the actual page id - end result - http://www.domain.com/blogname

4.  Ability to put blog list, and possibly other blog components on alternate pages - Currently, if you put the blog list on another page (copying the module) and click on a specific blog, the target is the current page.

5. Blog linking/associations - If two people share similar interests, etc. they one may link to anothers blog with permission

6. Links section by where a blogger can post catagorized links to various sites

More to come I guess but that's it for now.  I'm probably asking for quite a bit here.... ;)

Best,

John

John,

first let me say thank you for your suggestions, and I hope you and a lot of other people will make a lot more suggestions in future.

I have read your suggestions and can tell you that the one or the other is a feature I have already thought of. And some of the thoughts end in a dead end.

I will not comment yet every single suggestion, but I ask to misgivings that we are talking about a blog module for DotNetNuke and not over a stand alone blog software, that makes something different.

I will come back later and will discuss each single suggestion more in detail, so that we can see what is possible and what is not possible.

regards

HP

I posted this in asp.net and in a comment here. I hope Hans is working on it ;)    nah, just feed me on how to do it and I´ll post the code.

I want to change the way you display Archive. Right now, it is a list of links.

My idea is to make it work like DNN Links module where there is a panel with two controls: one data list and one dropdown. Both are populated by the same datareader.

I tried, I could see the drop down, but got an error because could not populate the dropdown because I do not know the appropriate field names.

The reason I have to use a drop down is because I have 100+ months and it will definitely grow up to 1500 months.

HP, another SIMPLE but very useful add would be an add to Del.Iico.Us link...

HP,

Another simple and must need addition when you are syndicating is the embedded rss link:

<LINK title=RSS href="http://ctmo.com/Default.aspx?tabid=36&amp;rssid=1" type=application/rss+xml rel=alternate>

This way the readers will automatically pick up on it - not sure if this should be a core mod since everything allows for syndication or specific to the blog module...

John
