Do I install only one copy if I am hosting multiple non-associated sites?
Or, do I install one copy per entity? When you point IIS to a web site, don't
you need to point each one to their own directory?

Thanks,
Bryan

You can have multiple IIS virtual directories all pointing to the same physical DNN directory.

When you build portals in DNN, you have to tell it what the "alias" is for the portal in question, like www.thisdomain.com and www.thatdomain.com and www.anotherDomain.com.

When DNN receives the request with that particular URL, it looks up the PortalID for that http alias, and serves up the correct portal content.

So the answer is that you can have many different unrelated web sites / portals on a single DNN install.

There might be reasons in some cases why you'd want to have a separate install for a given DNN portal - when it has unique needs or is doing ecommerce. You don't have to have a separate install, but it might be a good practice.

Ah, ok.   So DNN will figure it out if you point multiple IIS Virtual Directories to the same install.

Thank you for the help!
